The Buchlabor model was first introduced by Braun in the Fall of 1969 and enjoyed great popularity, perhaps the best selling model of the entire product line. The author of the book was Mr. Heinz Saucke with drawings created by Jules Stauber. Packaging design was attributed to Dieter Rams and his colleagues.

The same Braun packaged model was also sold by Lectron, GmbH until the packaging supplies were exhausted.

An INELCO branded version of the Buchlabor was also developed in the 1990s for the Japanese marketplace.

The LectronMW Buchlabor was later repackaged without the ‘book’ cover (presumably the INELCO supplies had run out) and featured a plastic tray mold with a simple transparent removable cover.
